We met up with some friends for dinner last night, and since we got a late start, they were hours of drinking ahead of us. Immediately after we sat down they ordered a shot of absinthe for us. I just can't get over what a weird word that is. It sounds like a drunk person trying to say "absent". Actually, that's what I thought it was until I saw it printed on the reciept.
