almost tan

I had a quick date with the faux tan lotion last night, and I think it helped.....well, at least a little. Fun times are planned for saturday night, so I should have some good pics on sunday.

1) What was I doing 10 years ago?
Damn, 10 years ago I was fresh out of high school and had NO CLUE about anything, but of course thought I knew everything. Just a another college kid with no direction.

2) What are 5 things on my to do list today?
Color my hair, vaccum, work (obviously), post to my blog, and figure out something to make for dinner (we're having friends over to grill).

3) Snacks I enjoy:
Hummm.... enjoy or actually eat? Ha. Seriously, though, I'm a very healthy eater. For a snack, I eat a luna bar, fruit (any kind), ff cottage cheese, or peanut butter and honey on a piece of whole wheat bread. If I want to splurge, I LOVE dark chocolate, cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies..... pretty much anything chocolate or with icing. I'm a sweet freak.

4) Places I've lived:
Gosh, this is pathetic. The only place I've lived is Tennessee. Sad, right? I'm not a fan of TN, and I'd prefer to head to the west coast. I do spend at least 2-3 weeks every year staying with my bff in manhattan, and I go on vacations out of the country each year.

5) Things I'd do if I were a billionaire:
I'd design my own line of cruelty-free handbags (I plan to do this anyway), donate money and time to environmental causes, MOVE AWAY FROM TN, travel more often, hire a personal trainer, and get hair extensions (I've always wondered what it would be like to have thick hair).

6) People I'd like to know more about:
My friends, I guess. That's a tough one.

Thought I'd post a little inspiration from this month's Vogue Paris. The model is Laura Stone, styled by the always brilliant Emanuelle. Makes me want to put on a girly dress and romp around in the sunshine.

marshall's new shoe section

Went to have a few mojitos after work with my bff and stopped at Marshall's prior to check out their new "shoe megastore". It's sort of like a mini DSW, but the savings are MUCH better. They had brands like Nine West, BCBG, Steve Madden, Guess, etc and the dicount was 50% or better. My kind of shoe shopping for sure. I bought this pair of Steven by Steve Madden platforms for just $44. Sweet. Of course my inner 7-year-old had to try them out immediately after purchasing. I'm the worst about that. Never can wait to wear something new. Got home just in time to snap these pics before dark.

Many thanks to Rumi for recommending this sheer henley - it really is the ultimate in comfy oversized bf shirts. I honestly never thought to check out the men's section at f21. I mean, seriously, what kind of box am I stuck in?

Had no idea Daisy was Gavin Rossdale's daughter until recently. Love her. Kinda makes me want to cut bangs again, though mine have just now grown out. Hummmm....

These Nine West "Undertoe" platforms caught my eye in the Teen Vogue June/July issue. They appeared to be a sandy gray shade in the mag, but unfortunately only black and brown were available for the preorder. I'm sort of afraid of the 4 3/4 inch heel (namely the pain it could produce), otherwise they are dreamy.

wtf is absinthe???

We met up with some friends for dinner last night, and since we got a late start, they were hours of drinking ahead of us. Immediately after we sat down they ordered a shot of absinthe for us. I just can't get over what a weird word that is. It sounds like a drunk person trying to say "absent". Actually, that's what I thought it was until I saw it printed on the reciept.

i think i want chucks

Every now and again I find myself in need of a good comfy shoe for long distance days when flat sandals just won't cut it. These converse seem to be the only type of "tennis" shoe that I can imagine wearing without crinkling my nose in disgust. I have a great pair of new balance shoes that I wear when I jog, but I would NEVER wear them otherwise. I think I'm gonna order these charcoal chucks from piperlime. Maybe. It's so difficult for me to spend money on sneakers....

Any suggestions? Do you have a go to shoe for long days on your feet?

ruffles & flowers

I bought this ruffly skirt at f21 a couple of weeks ago, and though it's a bit girly for me, I put on a brave face and wore it anyway. The handbag is a new melie bianco piece for my online boutique that arrived on Friday. I unwrapped it, uttered an unexpected "ooooooh," and immediately transferred all of my purse contents over. Though I originally had no intention to keep one for myself, the summery caribbean hue and multiple outside pockets were too perfect for me to resist. The bag looks so much better in person than I anticipated (it's not as bright as it appears in these pictures).

Being tagged sort of feels like the blogger's version of chain mail, but I have to admit that I'm quite excited to experience it for the first time.

4) have a tight, firm posterior (operation currently in progress)

1) not wearing jeans, this is a challenge sometimes

3) trying not to eat sweets, i have a serious addiction
4) platform sandals with tights, which will have to wait until the fall
5) recycling & eco-friendly products

i heart neutrals

I'm not big on color. I tried using a green tote, but this gray bag worked better for me. The splashes of blue in the top is enough for me. Opinions anyone? Would you add any color?
