weekend

This picture is from a few weeks ago, and I'm not sure how I managed to forget to post it. This holiday has been kinda busy, and I haven't taken any outfit photos. Sorry about that. This pic will just have to do for now. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

mk & uggh

So my cousin threw her back out a few days ago, so badly that she spent nearly 24 hours in bed because she couldn't move. When I asked her how she did it, she replied with "well, I was leaning over to put on my Uggs..." I mean, seriously. As if there weren't enough reasons not to wear Uggs already. I told her to take it as a sign. A very obvious sign.

True story, I swear.

splurge

After lusting after the Guess Maeve boot for over a month, I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase them yesterday from Endless, only to discover today that they are on sale on the Guess site for $70 less than I paid. Story of my life. So hopefully Endless's price guarantee holds up. I am anxiously awaiting my UPS delivery today... I'll let you know how they fit...

Added later: I used the price guarantee link on Endless to report the lower price on the Guess website, and within a few hours I received an e-mail stating that a refund for the difference would be processed on my credit card. Thanks, Endless. :-)

chilly

The weather has gone crazy cold all of a sudden - like 20 degrees at night cold. It took a bit of coaxing (and a strong dirty martini) for me to take my coat off for the second pic. I was so cold that I couldn't seem to stop laughing about it. Makes me respect the swimsuit models who shoot for hours in bikinis in January.

nyc monday

And finally, the last day in new york. Jess and I hit a few more stores in midtown and then headed to the airport. I already miss the city...

As promised, my treasures from the flea market on Sunday:

I'm planning to use the skeleton key for a necklace, and I'm thinking of adding studs to the clutch. And I know you're tired of the same scarf and CL boots. I wore them every day in NYC (function over fashion, right?), so I guess I'll give them a break now. :-)

nyc sunday

Artists & Fleas:

Brooklyn Flea:

my bff Jess, who stuck with me unconditionally during this four day non-stop shopping trip:

Sunday was all about flea market shopping. We first stopped by the Artists & Fleas market in Williamsburg, and then took the train to the exceptionally large Brooklyn Flea. I found several needed items at the second stop, including a pair of slightly worn in Doc Martens that I had been desperately craving. What are the odds that the only pair I saw just happened to be exactly my size? Fate, no doubt. I'll do a post tomorrow and show a pic of my purchases.

nyc saturday

The weather on Saturday was soggy, but we decided to ignore it and enjoy the city anyway. The day consisted of a bit of thrifting in Brooklyn and then we hit a few stores in Soho before heading home and refueling with cupcakes.

Saturday night was a unique blend of sushi, karaoke, alcohol, and a juggling act we witnessed while waiting for the subway at 2am. The juggling was pretty impressive - the pic doesn't do it justice. We had a few laughs about its randomness the next morning.

fifth avenue

Yesterday consisted of nonstop walking and shopping along 5th Ave and that's pretty much it. We finished off the day with a few drinks at random bars in Williamsburg. The weather is pretty messy today, but we plan to trek out and shop more anyway.

to the city

I'm off to NYC today! Thought I'd post a pic that I took from Brooklyn in January. I'll be updating the blog during my trip, so stay tuned. And now I leave you with a few inspirational images of Stam...

studded

I'm leaving for NYC on Thursday, and I decided to succumb to the benefits of a backpack verses a handbag. Through experience I've learned that it's impossible to shop without both hands free, and treking many miles a day around the city lugging a heavy handbag just isn't practical. Instead of breaking my budget on a new backpack, I decided to add a few studs to this vintage one I found for $10. The whole project took less than half an hour, and I only stabbed my finger once. I'm kinda tempted to add another row of studs along the diagonal zipper on the lower pocket. What do you think? More or no?

perfectly ugly

My bff Jen from NYC came to visit this weekend, so we took her out for some fun on Friday night. I wore my deliciously ugly lace up fringe wedges, which remind my husband of this bird. Needless to say, he's not too keen on them. I love them however, and the fact that they're crazy comfy and ridiculously inexpensive add to the appeal.

Yea! My look won the best tote contest on weardrobe, and I get a free Hayden-Harnett bag. Highlight of my day, no doubt.

nostalgia

I spent some time digging around in my old closet at my parents' house for my black lace up Doc Martens last night. I wore them nonstop nearly a decade ago, so I suspect they're perfectly scuffed and broken in. No luck, but I did find a bottle of perfume from the same era. Seriously, nothing stirs up nostalgia quite like a scent.

black and blue

I've been digging around in my model inspiration folder quite a bit lately, gathering ideas for this season. These Natasha Poly pics jumped out at me today for whatever reason. Thought you might enjoy them. images from tFS and jak&jil

need to splurge

I decided that I've been wearing my Nine West boots waaaay too much lately. I may have to splurge on one more pair of statement boots for this season. I'm thinking maybe these or these. The temp was back in the high 70's so I dug out my Aldo platforms for one final time this year.

Edit: It just occurred to me that my above color combo is perfect for election day. Maybe I'm more patriotic than I realize. And yes, I've already voted. :-)

costume recycling

I decided it would be pretty lame to show up at the party with no costume, so I opted to recycle my 2003 school girl ensemble. Not very exciting overall, but the fact that I spent $0 on it is exciting to me. And FYI, that's my bff Jess in the right corner dressed as Juno. I had to cut most of her out - she'd kill me if her blog debut was with a pillow belly.
